The Inter-Branch Boys Basketball Tournament hosted at Julien Day School, Kalyani, was a vibrant celebration of athletic excellence, unity, and youthful energy. Bringing together the four branches, Howrah, Ganganagar, Kolkata, and Kalyani, the tournament transformed the home court into an arena filled with anticipation, determination, and spirited competition.


The event was honoured by the presence of Chairman Mr J. G. Broughton, Vice Chairman Mr Joshua Broughton, and Head of Digital Marketing Ms Jessica Broughton, whose involvement reflected the school’s strong commitment to fostering sportsmanship and student development. Accompanied by the Principal, Junior Coordinator, and Teacher-in-Charge, their presence added motivation, pride, and encouragement for the players throughout the day.

The tournament followed a league-format system, ensuring fairness and continuous excitement. Each match began with a tense jump ball, which brought the entire court to silence, with spectators holding their breath, players focused, and everyone on the edge of their seats as the ball soared upward to begin play.


Kalyani opened with a commanding 21–09 victory over Ganganagar and continued their momentum with a strong 34–02 win against Howrah. Kolkata displayed excellent teamwork, securing a 25–12 win over Howrah and a 21-12 win against Ganganagar. The much-anticipated face-off between Kalyani and Kolkata saw Kalyani secure a close 12–08 win, while Ganganagar earned a well-deserved 13–08 victory over Howrah.

A crucial element in the smooth conduct of the tournament was the exemplary officiating. The referees ensured fairness, clarity, and professionalism in every match, allowing the boys to compete with confidence and maintaining the integrity of the game. Their diligence ensured that every decision upheld the spirit of the sport.


The final standings highlighted the hard work and perseverance of each branch. Kolkata Branch secured Second Place, followed by Ganganagar in Third, while Howrah, though finishing fourth, displayed admirable spirit and sportsmanship. Individual achievements added further distinction to the event. Anish Roy of Kalyani was named Best Player, impressing with his exceptional speed, swift movements, and sharp court awareness. Priyam Behuria of Kolkata emerged as the Highest Scorer, accumulating an outstanding 31 points across the tournament with remarkable accuracy and consistency. Both players will be honoured at the Annual Award Ceremony.

The Teacher-in-Charge played an essential role in maintaining the flow of the tournament—announcing every set and match, making timely clarifications, and ensuring that both players and spectators remained informed. The prize distribution ceremony marked the day’s joyful conclusion, with certificates presented by all three dignitaries and the Championship Trophy awarded personally by Chairman Mr J. G. Broughton, marking a proud and unforgettable moment for Kalyani Branch.
